Materials Solutions Scientist (Presales and Planning) (m/f/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Berlin / Remote

Your Mission
We are looking for a Materials Solutions Scientist for a presales and planning context in our growing commercial team. You’ll be the technical face of Quantistry in customer acquisition, working directly with R&D leaders, innovation teams, and commercial executives to scope solutions, run demos, and craft proposals that solve high-stakes industrial materials challenges.

This is a customer-facing role where your mix of scientific depth and communication flair will make complex technologies accessible and compelling. You’ll partner closely with Sales and Delivery teams as well as with Science and Technology to ensure customer needs are understood, solutions are well-scoped, and early projects lead to satisfied, long-term customers.
  • Engage with enterprise customers in discovery workshops, understanding their material R&D challenges and mapping them to Quantistry solutions.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts that showcase our platform’s value.
  • Translate complex requirements into clear project scopes and proposals, working with scientific and delivery teams to shape winning solutions.
  • Support sales cycles from first conversation through to signed contracts and smooth handover to delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, building long-term relationships by solving problems and communicating with clarity and credibility.
  • Capture learnings from engagements to help refine presales playbooks, demo workflows, and reusable proposal materials.
Your Talents
  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in Computational Chemistry (ideally solid-state) or Computational Material Sciences or comparable field
  • Solid technical grounding in computational methods, simulations, or advanced materials development.
  • 2–3 years of experience in customer-facing technical roles (e.g., presales engineering, technical consulting, solution architecting, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills: able to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and a proactive, consultative approach with customers.
  • Comfort working in a startup environment i.e. adaptable, resourceful, and energized by working at pace with ambitious goals.
  • Business Fluent in English both written and spoken, German is a plus.
  • Based in Berlin (ideal), or remote within Europe with willingness to travel occasionally (~10%).
You might not tick all the boxes and that’s ok, apply anyways! Even though we have clearly defined roles, we are an early-stage startup and there are so many things to do that every team member can define the own role to a certain extent.

About us
Chemical simulations – this might sound abstract and academic buts it’s much closer to everyday life than you think. Whether it's a smartphone, toothpaste, or the oil on a bicycle chain: all these products contain an incredible amount of chemical know-how. And in all these cases, the development process started in a lab at some point.

During hundreds of development cycles, researchers have worked their way toward the optimal properties of a material or a chemical agent. Until the ideal conductivity of a semiconductor is achieved, or the desired viscosity of a cosmetic product is given. This takes a lot of time and, of course, a lot of money.

We have the opinion that this can be done more easily nowadays! The Quantistry Lab - our cloud-based simulation platform that uses quantum simulations and artificial intelligence - replaces countless development cycles in the lab. It reduces the investment costs of researching companies, accelerates their R&D, and improves their environmental footprint at the same time. Our customers think that’s pretty cool, and so do we. What about you?
